why dubai

gulf's tallest skyline, coldest malls. come in the cooler months.

Dubai is not a subtle place. It hits you all at once: the heat, the sheer scale of the buildings, the sound of construction, the smell of oud and exhaust fumes. It's a city built on ambition, and it's still building — taller, wider, more extravagant.

The old Dubai is still there if you look for it — the spice souks of Deira, the textile markets of Bur Dubai, the abra rides across the creek. But the new Dubai dominates: the Burj Khalifa piercing the sky, the dancing fountains of the Dubai Mall, the artificial islands shaped like palm trees and world maps.

It's a city of contradictions. Opulence next to migrant worker camps. Religious conservatism alongside Western excess. A place where you can ski indoors and swim in the Arabian Gulf on the same day.

Not for everyone. But if you want to see what a city looks like when money is no object and ambition is the only limit — come to Dubai. October to April is bearable. August is an oven. Stay near the Metro. You'll thank us.
