why greece

whitewashed islands, ancient ruins. ferries dictate your pace.

You know the postcards: whitewashed villages clinging to cliffs, sapphire water, ancient ruins baking in the sun. The reality is all of that, but also so much more.

Greece is a country of distinct regions and experiences. The mainland offers the grandeur of Athens, the stark beauty of the Peloponnese, the monasteries of Meteora perched atop impossible rock formations. The islands are where things get interesting — each has its own personality, its own microclimate, its own vibe. Santorini is honeymoon central, Mykonos is a party, Crete is large and diverse enough to get lost in, and countless smaller islands offer something different.

Time of year matters. July and August are peak season — hot, crowded, and expensive. Shoulder season (May-June, September-October) offers better weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices. The Meltemi winds can be fierce in the Cyclades in August — be prepared for ferry delays.

Choose your island wisely. Pair with a week in Turkey for a fascinating contrast.
