Nha Trang is the capital of Khanh Hoa Province on Vietnam's south-central coast — a 19km beachfront city that has been Vietnam's primary beach resort destination for international visitors since the 1990s. Demographically, it sits at an unusual intersection — the Russian-speaking world (post-Soviet Russia adopted Nha Trang as their winter beach in the 2000s, and Russian menus, signage, and tour operators dominate the strip), a strong Korean and Chinese package-tourism layer, and a smaller domestic-Vietnamese resort market. International long-haul demand (US, Europe, India) is thinner.

The city itself is a strip of mid-tier hotels, tour-operator offices, beach clubs, and the famous Pho Bien (street-food strip) along Tran Phu Boulevard. The beach is genuinely good — long, flat, swimmable, well-maintained — but the city behind it is dense, noisy, and Russian-pop-music-coded. Vincom Plaza shopping, Vinpearl Land amusement park (on Hon Tre island, accessed by the world's longest sea-crossing cable car), and Thap Ba mud baths are the standard tourist set-pieces.

The luxury inventory in town is thin — Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa (Tran Phu strip, the chain anchor), InterContinental Nha Trang, Mia Nha Trang Beach Hideaway (south of town, design-led), Sunrise Nha Trang Beach Hotel, Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh (technically Cam Ranh, often booked as Nha Trang). The serious luxury sits in the bays around the city — Six Senses Ninh Van Bay (25km north, accessible only by boat), Anam Cam Ranh (35km south), Mia Resort Nha Trang (south of town), Amiana Resort.

What you actually do here: the beach, Vinpearl Land for families, the Po Nagar Cham towers (the regional Hindu-Champa heritage site, genuinely interesting for Indian visitors), the mud baths, and a boat-to-the-islands day trip (Hon Mun, Hon Tam). Cam Ranh airport is 30km south of the city, a 35-min drive — most international arrivals fly into Cam Ranh and stay south of the city in the Cam Ranh resort strip.

Nha Trang is for: travellers passing through the south-central coast on a longer Vietnam loop, families who want Vinpearl Land's amusement-park access, paperplane members specifically asking for Six Senses Ninh Van Bay (the destination's high-end island anchor). Nha Trang is NOT for: members expecting an upmarket beach city (it's not — it's a Russian-Korean mass-tourism strip); paperplane couples on a romance trip (Cam Ranh, Lang Co, or Con Dao all do that better).
